Pink-a-licious Party

A few weekends ago Mr. Lemon and I had our three-year-old niece over for the night.  We had tickets to see a local matinee production of Pinkalicious (which was absolutely adorable, by the way!) for her birthday and decided to do a pre-show lunch party to get us in the mood for PINK!

Since it was just a small luncheon for the three of us, we kept the food menu pretty simple – PB&J sandwiches, strawberry applesauce, lemonade and of course – cupcakes!  I did have a great time with the decor of the table and favors…

Initially, I gathered all of the pink in our house to see what I had on hand.  A bright pink twin sized flat sheet was the perfect size for a tablecloth (need to remember this trick in the future!) and a few pink poms overhead helped to immediately brighten the space.  Mini-poms served as chair decor and pink votives lined the rest of the room for a pink pop of color.  Placesettings got a special touch with cupcake plates found at Hobby Lobby.  For the table centerpiece, of course the cupcakes had to be showcased in style!  I used my ruffled cake stands from Pier One to create a  multi-level stand with vintage looking pink votives from JoAnn’s filling in the bottom and middle layers, which let the top layer of cupcakes really stand out.  Add a sprinkling of diamonds to the tabletop and what more could a girl want?  A fairy wand, that’s what!  I made fairy wand favors using wooden dowels, ribbon, decorative flowers and a bit of hot glue.  They were so easy to put together and my niece LOVED them!  She carried her’s around for the rest of the weekend.  Definitely something I will do again.

This was one of those times where it would have been fun to simply attend the show on its own, but we really made a day of it by having a special lunch party beforehand.  It didn’t cost much or take a lot of time, but it made the day more memorable and all three of us enjoyed our festive celebration!

Very cute and girl post. Love that you used the votive holders to fill in the tiers!
